Shropshire is hosting an exciting new initiative this summer to encourage women to get involved in cricket.
Monthly Women’s Softball Festivals will be launched with an event at Sentinel CC in Shrewsbury on Sunday, May 14.
It is one of a number of similar festivals being held around the West Midlands to encourage more women to get involved in the game.
The festival at Sentinel, which will start at 10.30am, is free to enter and will feature six-a-side pairs cricket in a fun, social environment.
There will be a coaching corner at the ground with food and drink available on the day with the action aimed at girls aged 14 and over
Cricket Shropshire Development Officer Ed Ashlin said: “We have seen a big increase in the number of women and girls playing and enjoying cricket in Shropshire over the past few years with an increasing number of clubs represented.
“These festivals in Shropshire will give us the chance to encourage even more women and girls to get involved in the game in a friendly environment. So, come along and see what the game is all about.”
The festivals offer a fun-filled opportunity to play cricket, the chance to learn new skills and meet new people, an event T-shirt and discounts off New Balance products.
Sign up details will be available from April 24 together with details of further festivals in Shropshire this summer.
