A combined Cricket Shropshire D40/S9 squad travelled to Quatt on Sunday to take part in the Paul ‘Shrimpo’ Shrimpton memorial match.
Coach Graham Furber said: "It was a great honour for our side to be asked to play in this match in memory of a much-loved and respected player who graced both sides with distinction."
The game started with a minute's applause led by organiser Alex Biddle from the home club, and our hosts were invited to bat first.
The Quatt CC Select XI, captained by his son Josh, and containing other members of his family and close cricketing friends totalled 169-9 in 40 overs (Greg Lloyd 3-25).
In reply, SCB were dismissed for 136 in the 37th over with top scorers Cally Rigby 56 not out and Adam Marshall 18 (including four boundaries).
Graham added: "I’m sure Paul would have enjoyed a competitive game, played in a great spirit and with no little humour. Hopefully the fixture can be played annually in his memory - RIP ‘Shrimpo."
