Shropshire's Disability D40 side fell tantalisingly short of their victory target when they took on Surrey in the national semi-final.
Chasing 195 to win at Old Hill CC, they fell just 12 runs short to deny them the chance of reaching the final again.
Surrey, who topped the Southern Division table, won the toss and chose to bat first and finished their 40 overs on 194-7.
The bowling honours went to Eric Heath who took 4-21, while skipper Shaun Rigby picked up 1-27 and Allan Anson deserved better from his spell than figures of 0-30 would suggest.
In the reply, Kevin Baker took 14 off the first over, but Shropshire then found run scoring difficult against accurate bowling and defensive field placings on a dying wicket.
After losing early wickets, Baker and skipper Rigby raised the tempo, but when Baker was run out for 49, the chances of victory appeared to be slim.
But a tremendous late flurry from Cally Rigby (47 not out) and Adam James (28) put Shropshire within touching distance of the win, only to fall just short.
Coach Graham Furber said: “We are extremely disappointed to lose a semi-final by such a small margin to a First Class county from the South, having lost last year’s final to Hampshire by a similar margin.
"There are areas we need to improve to be able to got that extra yard to win these matches, and Lead Coach Jonathan Caldecott and myself will be looking at these prior to winter training.
"Congratulations to Surrey on their victory, and we wish them well in the final against Essex at Kidderminster in a fortnight."
