Pontesbury Indoor League latest
Grasshoppers took the initiative at the Pontesbury Indoor League when they eased to victory over defending champions Acton Reynald.
After winning the toss and putting Reynald into bat, they restricted their opponents to 118 with Joe Yapp taking 3-17 while Adrian Hudson led the way with the bat with 31.
In reply, Hoppers knocked off the runs with an over to spare with Paul Elton unbeaten on 32 and Jack Case on 23 not out to make it four wins from four.
Montgomery A are their nearest rivals after they got the better of their B side by just ten runs in an entertaining encounter.
Batting first, the A side finished on 144-3 with skipper Andrew Barker unbeaten on 41 and Rob Bennett on 31, while Rob Yewdall took 2-24 from his four overs.
It was Yewdall who led the way with the bat for the B side, hitting 38 to keep them in the contest before they were dismissed for 134 off the last ball of the match.
Alberbury A bowled Condover out for 96 despite Andy Mottram’s 36 with Lara Jones taking two wickets, and then knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets with Steve Jarrett unbeaten on 31 and Mark Jones on 21.
Condover also suffered at the hands of Alberbury B, who beat them by 27 runs.
Batting first, Alberbury B racked up 160-3 with Jim Wynne (46) Andy Wynne (43) and Mike Crawshaw (30) all unbeaten. In the Condover reply, Chris Barnes hit an unbeaten 38 and Jon Mansell Jr 29, but they fell short of their target on 133-4.
This week’s fixtures on Thursday see unbeaten Beacon (two wins from two) take on Montgomery A (7pm) before Alberbury B take on Montgomery B (8pm).
