Aimed at 14+ outside the County Age Group set-up
A Cricket Development Camp for youngsters in Shropshire will be held in the summer half-term break.
It is aimed at youngsters qualified for the Under 14s (Year 9) age group excluding boys and girls who have been selected for the County Age Group Programme this summer.
It will take place at Ellesmere College on June 1 and 2 (Tuesday and Wednesday) from 9.30am until 4pm and will be run by the Shropshire Cricket Coaches Association in conjunction with Cricket Shropshire.
Cricket Shropshire’s Performance Cricket Manager Ed Ashlin said: “We were originally planning this as a pre-season camp to help boys and girls work on their cricket skills ahead of the season, but obviously the plans were put on hold due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
“The aim is to provide some support and encouragement to those who have not made it into the Age Group set-up this year – and boost their skills set which they can then take back to their clubs.
“It also helps us to keep an eye on their development – and they may well progress to the Age Group set up in the future.
“We also want to grow the base of talent in the County at all age groups and support the development of players in the club environment which can only be good for the future of the game.”
Shropshire Cricket Coaches Association Chairman Chris Dirkin said: “The sessions will be a mix of small group coaching, 1-1 or 1-2 sessions, and some game-based learning to help the boys and girls develop their skills.
“The sessions will be run by experienced Level 3 ECB coaches and coach developers.”
The cost is £90 for the two days or £50 per day.
