Welcome to our Officials' Page
The Shropshire Association of Cricket Officials (SACO) is one of 38 County Associations of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials (ECBACO). ECBACO provides national training programmes delivered locally by County Associations, insurance, officially branded clothing and merchandise, a quarterly newsletter and an annual conference at Lords. It is recommended that every official joins ECBACO, which gives automatic membership of SACO. An application form and direct debit mandate can be accessed from the Download panel to the right.
SACO is committed to improving the standards of umpiring and scoring in Shropshire. ECBACO has established a pathway from Recreational Cricket Umpiring to the Professional Game, a route already travelled by one of our members. Details of our Education Courses can be found on the Education Page, with application forms.
SACO operates an umpires' panel for the Shropshire Premier Cricket League (SPCL), a feeder league to the ECB Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League (BDPCL) and also provides umpires for the BDPCL, the Shropshire Cricket League, (the feeder league for the SPCL), ECB Competitions, Shropshire Cricket Board Youth Matches and Disability Cricket.
To support club umpires with maintaining the welfare of all who play there are a range of documents attached which provide guidance and directives for practice and match play.
