CAG Season Review
As the final wicket was taken in the u15s cup final against Hertfordshire (the run out of number 11 Ashley Allington) the 2011 summer programme of county age group fixtures came to an end. As usual, all cricket fans and those who have been involved in SCB’s summer set up will agree that the season has once again rushed by. Winter is approaching at far too fast a rate as temperatures begin to fall and nights draw in...we all know it's not cricketing weather!
This season has once again been a major progression for all involved, with the well documented success of the u15 boys who were champions in the ECB national B competition, the fantastic efforts of the boys u17s who were so unfortunate to miss out on a national semi-final in the 2 day County Championship and ran out of steam in the 50 over semi-final against Durham as well as the u13 girls making the quarter finals of the ECB competition (losing to Somerset in a close encounter) to further outline the major progress that is being made with Shropshire girls' cricket.
The district programme was once again a great success despite the uninviting cricketing weather that was faced during the u10/11 and the u13 fixtures held at the ever accommodating Ellesmere College venue and the newly created u13s girls development were rewarded with a fixture (and a win!) against a Herefordshire development XI.
All teams have tasted victory this season, just rewards for the efforts put in during the winter training programmes.
